Dr. Jobi M J CMI is a distinguished researcher and priest belonging to the Kochi province of the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI) congregation. He hails from South Paravoor, a serene town in the Ernakulam district of Kerala. His early academic journey began at Little Flower School in his hometown. With a deep interest in biological sciences, he pursued his undergraduate studies in Zoology. He completed both his UG and PG degrees in Zoology from Sacred Heart College, Thevara, Kochi. During his academic journey, he developed a keen interest in Arachnology, the study of spiders and related species. Driven by scientific curiosity, he undertook extensive research in the field. His doctoral studies culminated in the award of a Ph.D. in 2019. His Ph.D. research added significant insights into the taxonomy and ecology of spiders. Over the course of his career, Dr. Jobi has accumulated more than 12 years of focused research experience in Arachnology. His dedication to the field is reflected in the depth and breadth of his scientific contributions. He has authored and co-authored over 35 scientific papers published in reputed national and international journals. Many of his publications are highly regarded by the global Arachnological community. His research has contributed to the discovery and classification of several new spider species. He has participated in various field expeditions and biodiversity surveys across India. Dr. Jobi is known for his meticulous fieldwork and expertise in spider taxonomy. He actively collaborates with scientists and researchers from multiple institutions. His work bridges the gap between taxonomy, conservation, and public awareness. Apart from his scientific contributions, Dr. Jobi is also involved in academic mentoring. He guides young researchers and students in the field of Zoology and biodiversity.
